How to tie an oriental knot
Oriental Knot is less frequently used necktie knot. It is similar to Four-in-Hand knot, yet, the necktie begins with inside-out around the neck. Like Four-in-Hand knot, Oriental Knot is asymmetric, small size and uses only a short length of the necktie. Untie this necktie is easy because of its simplicity. Some people don't like these necktie knots because these necktie knots end up with their narrow ends inside out. Below are step by step diagrams to show how to tie a tie using this Oriental Knot.
1. Start with wide end of necktie extending approximately a foot longer than narrow end. Cross wide end under narrow end. The actual extension will depend on your height and your neck sze. After the necktie knot has been done, the wide end should cover the shirt. The narrow end behind wide end and therefore it is not that important.
2. Necktie wide end turn front of necktie narrow end.
3. Necktie wide end up through loop.
4. Holding front of knot loosely with index finger, pass necktie wide end down through necktie knot in front.
5. Remove finger and tighten knot carefully. while pulling down necktie narrow end with one hand, use other hand to slide knot up snugly. Do not remove dimple; try to keep it as nearly centered as possible.
